History
Daughter of George and Jane Beers Graham.
She had two sisters.
Born in Pennsylvania, but moved to California at a young age.
Inspired to be a dancer from Ruth St. Denis.
Later became a teacher and experimented with modern types of dance.
Accomplishments and Influence
She established the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance in 1926.
1932 recieved the Guggenheim fellowship.
Recieved the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1976.
Named "Dancer of the Century" in time magazine.
